Peace and blessings and welcome to BibleStudyMinistry.com. Today, we are taking a study in the book of the prophet Daniel as part of our chapter studies. We’ll be reading and studying Daniel 3. Daniel is a fascinating book on historical content. More vital to the book, future prophecy is outlined in large scale here.

Chapter Study on Daniel 3

1 Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

[Here in chapter three, we’ll have to presume some time has past since Daniel’s great promotion from the dream interpretation, and the king has set his face to construct an image of gold. The dimensions are interesting. The height was threescore cubits; that is sixty (60) cubits, and the breadth or width was six cubits.]

2 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

[King Nebuchadnezzar invited all his rulers within his kingdom to the dedication service of the image he’d set up.]

3 Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

4 Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,

5 That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:

Daniel 3 Chapter Study

[Initially, this was a ceremony for the dedication when all of the sudden a herald cried aloud that they should fall and worship the golden image set up by the king. At the sound of the instruments, the people were commanded to fall down and worship the image. Let’s play something out here, when the people heard these instruments, they were to fall and worship the golden image.]

Let’s look at the instruments:

1. The cornet

2. Flute

3. Harp

4. Sackbut,

5. Psaltery

6. Dulcimer

[When all of these were heard together, the people were to fall down and worship! How many instruments were listed? Six! The golden image was 60 cubits, six feet in width, and the people were to worship the golden image at the sound of six instruments.

Here we give our conspiracy theorist a dream topic, the 666, which is the number of a man we read about in Revelation chapter 13 and verse 18. The man of sin at the end times is pulling the same stunt that Nebuchadnezzar pulled at the beginning of the Gentile reign. Thanks for playing that out with me.]

Daniel 3 Burning Fiery Furnace

6 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

[If you refused to fall and worship, you would be thrown into a burning fiery furnace, immediately! This is the classic, worship or die!]

7 Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

[It says, the nations and the languages fell down and worshipped the golden image. This is because Nebuchadnezzar ruled all the earth, every nation was represented in his kingdom. This is how it will be in the future also!]
