Previously on the History of Israel, Eli the priest was asked by the LORD why he honored his sons before honoring POWER. The LORD began to speak to Samuel. When Samuel was called, initially he thought it was Eli calling him.
Nevertheless, it was the LORD and Samuel learned how to hear and listen to the voice of the Sovereign LORD. Samuel also learned of the horrible things the LORD would perform against Eli and his sons.
