Chapter Summaries: Genesis Chapter 46 Summary

In Genesis chapter 46 summary, Jacob and his family go to Egypt. Yes, God confirmed with Jacob that he should go down into Egypt and that God Himself would be with Jacob in Egypt. In addition to this, Jacob will see his son Joseph.

The Lord promised to take him there and bring his offspring back to the land of Canaan, promised to his grandfather. The generations of Jacob were giving in addition to the total number of his lineage that went into Egypt.

The total number was 66 souls of which came forth out of the loins of Jacob into Egypt, outside of Jacob’s son’s wives. Jacob and his wife Leah had a total of thirty-three children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Two grandchildren died in the land of Canaan (Er and Onan). Jacob and Zilpah, Leah’s handmaid, had a total of sixteen children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jacob and Rachel had fourteen children and grandchildren.
