Daily Wisdom Bible Study – The Glory of Children are their Fathers
6 Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
This is an excellent verse to understand; grandchildren are crown to old men. Grandfathers really cherish and love their children’s children. This has important factors in the parent child relationship, this is one reason parents-children relationships should be nourished with wisdom. The second end of this verse says the glory of children are their fathers. The thing a child glories deeply in is having his father. It is no wonder that homes are broken to pieces and communities following them, when fathers abandon their responsibilities to their sons and daughters.
7 Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
Speaking well you will not become a fool just as much a liar become a prince in the kingdom.
8 A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.
Gifts make us feel good, especially special gifts that have special meanings and that are timely.
9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.
If you cover a transgression and don’t point out that a friend has injured your feeling, you are seeking the love of that person. Nevertheless, if the matter is repeated it will eventually separate you like nothing you’ve ever seen.
10 A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.
For some reason, a simple word of correction is taken better by the wise than beating a fool a hundred times. It is odd, but a fool is a fool, and a wise person is a wise person.
11 An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
I find it odd that people like to be rebellious or the “rebel” of the family; when it says an evil man seeks rebellion only. I understand as a righteous person, you may rebel from evil; however do not consider yourself rebellious, instead consider yourself righteous. A cruel messenger waits for those evil people who only seek rebellion.
