… a Certain Householder

Parables are great. They are stories or allegories that have a moral teaching lesson that one can understand and use to gain knowledge or clarity in a subject.

Jesus the Holy Messiah from God used parables to illustrate as much as He would regarding the Kingdom of God and His Power Over the Nations.

Welcome to BibleStudyMinistry.com (BSM), your online bible study supplement source. Today we’re still exploring the concept of having power over the nations as mentioned by Jesus Christ! It is part of our study topic features, where we study a topic in the Bible one scripture at a time. Let’s get back to today’s study topic!

In a parable found in the twenty-first chapter of the book of Matthew, Jesus expounded on a certain householder. This parable is popular, a search online could yield hundreds and thousands of ministries and churches who have taught or written on it (391,000 to be exact).

In shorthand, this certain householder planted a vineyard, hedged it, digged a winepress, built a tower, and loan it out or rented it to husbandmen to take care of while the householder went to a far country.

For people who need or like a more modern english or concepts of who the players in the parable are, the householder is like a landowner or property owner. The husbandmen are vinedressers or gardeners.

They represent people of the world (more on that later).

Now, when the time of the harvest or fruit drew near, the certain householder sent servants to the husbandmen, so to receive his fruits. A wicked unfortunate turn of events occurred.

The husbandmen took the certain householders servants and beat them, killed some, stone many. No one saw that coming. The householder sent more servants and the husbandmen did the same. This is sad.

At last, the certain householder sent his own son, sure the husbandmen would reverence his son. These guys saw the son, and thought if they killed the son, the inheritance of the vineyard (land) would be theirs.

So the husbandmen caught the son, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. When the householder heard this, he knew it was time to do something and something very harsh.

This is the part of the story where Jesus the Holy Messiah from God asks, the pharisees sitting around listening to His parable, a question. Jesus asks, “When the householder or lord of the vineyard returns, what will he do to those husbandmen?

Good question.

They replied, “He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard to other husbandmen, who will give him the fruits in their seasons.”

Jesus then replied to them that they should have to read the scriptures, because they were indeed doing what the husbandmen were doing in the story, by rejecting the Stone that was made head of the corner (which we read in another posting).

Jesus concluded that the Kingdom of God will be taken from them, and given to a nation bringing forward the right fruits the householder requires. Further, Jesus continued, whomever falls on this stone will be broken, but whomever it will fall on, they will be grinded into powder.

The pharisees and certain church leaders today know the parable was and/or is about them. This relates to the Power Over the Nations study topic because Jesus Christ was made Head of the Corner, the Chief Cornerstone, and His vineyard is going to be given to a nation (of people) worthy of doing His works to bring back good fruit.

Are you ready to be in that nation? Do you know how to get in that nation? Stay with us in this study topic, and it will be revealed. Blessings, gracious blessings until next time.
