Revelation 1:1-7 King James Version (KJV)
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
What the seven are saying:
The book of Revelation begins with the revealing of Jesus the Messiah; not revealing who He is, but what He was given to show His servants. They (we) are provided the things that will shortly come to pass. It was sent and signified by Jesus’ angel and shown to John.
John, the angel, and JESUS bare record of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus the Messiah of all the things He saw. Therefore, we are blessed if we take heed to the words of the prophecy in this book and keep those things.
The time is at hand. Further, John wrote to the seven churches in Asia, greeting them in the name of Jesus who is the faithful witness, the first from the dead, and the principle King among the kings of the earth (King of kings).
He also washed all of us from our sins with His own blood and made us kings and priests to the Heavenly Kingdom and His Father. Jesus has the dominion forever and HE will come with the clouds and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him.
This means they must be woken from their sleep. Metaphorically speaking, those who continue to pierce Him today through slander, lies and persecuting His stewards (Acts 26:14). However, when the world sees the LORD in the clouds, all the earth will cry because of Him. So be it.
