The family of Benjamin, Kish, and Saul. A man named Kish was a strong man in bodily form, he was mighty and wealthy in Israel. He had a son named Saul who was a good young man, taller than everyone in Israel.
Samuel met Saul and the LORD told him that this would be the man who would rule over His people. Samuel relayed this message to Saul this and his reply was typical of someone who is from an “average” family.
Saul felt his family was the least in all of Israel and within Benjamin, his family was the smallest. It didn’t matter, Samuel said the LORD wanted him to be king. Saul was anointed to become captain over the LORD’s inheritance.
