Until I Make Thine Enemies Thy Footstool
In the previous study topic, we did mention that it would get bad for a lot of people, really bad when the Lord appropriates Power Over the Nations. Today’s postings goes into a bit of detail on how bad and gruesome that will be for many people. But before we get into this, let me first welcome you…
Welcome to BibleStudyMinistry.com (BSM), your online bible study supplement source. Today we’re still exploring the concept of having power over the nations as mentioned by Jesus Christ! It is part of our study topic features, where we study a topic in the Bible one scripture at a time. Let’s get back to today’s study topic!
In Psalm chapter 110, a chapter with seven short verses, those seven verses tell a bit of a violent tale the Lord of the earth has in store at an appointed time for many of the inhabitants of the earth.
The chapter was quoted by the writer of Hebrews when he asked, to which of the angels has it ever been said to sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool? It was never asked to an angel!
The Hebrew writer was quoting Psalm 110, and in this chapter it says, “the Lord said unto my Lord, sit at my right hand, Until I make Thine enemies Thy footstool.” These are two capital “L” Lord’s speaking, as in the Father and Son.
One Lord tells the other to sit at His right hand, until He makes the other Lord’s enemies His footstool. It does not end there, as the Hebrew writer wrote.
The unfortunate part of this is that people, so many people will have to get destroyed for a lack of knowledge, for being grossly deceived, for having a hardness of heart…
We then get a description of what the Lord sitting at the right hand will do, with granted permission and authority. The Lord will send the rod of His strength out of Jerusalem (Zion), and will rule in the middle or midst of His enemies.
All stewards of the Lord, in heaven (angels) and earth (humans), will be more than willing to fight for and with the Lord in the day of His power, His power over the nations. The Lord (the Father) has sworn and will not go back on His vow.
His vow stated that the Lord Christ, who will rule out of Zion (that is Jesus Christ to us today), is a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. The Lord Jesus, who is at the Father’s right hand, will strike through kings in the day of His wrath, and judge among the nations.
Gruesome alert!
The Lord Jesus will fill the places in the earth with dead bodies and wound the heads over many countries. And then, after all the carnage, the Lord Jesus will lift up the head, and ask “Are we finished?”
Are the inhabitants of the earth finished rebelling against the Heavenly Kingdom. Are we finished acting with hate and violence towards each other?
If so, we can join the Lord Jesus’ Kingdom on the earth, and enjoy the power over the nations. The unfortunate part of this is that people, so many people will have to get destroyed for a lack of knowledge, for being grossly deceived, for having a hardness of heart; but there is a way out.
The way out is through study and to put into practice goodness, and share God’s glory to all who He has sanctified in the earth for His purpose.
This portion of this study topic, power over the nations, will show that the Lord Jesus is the One executing His power in the takeover, and we’ll see what Zechariah had to say on the topic next time.
