My Dead Body Shall Arise

Isaiah is a very strong prophet of the Lord and much divine visions were given to him for his generation and more important for us, our generation also. Isaiah chapter 26 has three little verses at the end that really put things in great perspective for the Biblical student and I want to share them with you in this post.

Welcome to BibleStudyMinistry.com (BSM), your online bible study supplement source. Today we’re still exploring death and the disposition of those who have passed on from this world! It is part of our study topic features, where we study a topic in the Bible one scripture at a time. Now back to today’s study topic!

The scripture is in verses 19 through 21. Isaiah wrote that your dead men will live once again. It will take place together, my dead body shall arise. Then Isaiah writes to awake and sing all you that dwell in the dust of the earth.

These are not ants and bugs, these are men women and children who have died, they are put back into the dust of the earth. God will tell them to arise because their dew is as the dew of herbs and the earth will give up her dead.

Verse twenty is interesting; Isaiah is telling people to enter their chambers for death or sleep and shut the doors, hide themselves in death a little moment until the Lord’s anger is over and past.

Why is this?

The Lord will come out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their sin and in doing so the Lord will raise the righteous dead and change the righteous living. The earth will no longer cover her dead.

Once again, this is at His coming and at that time the Lord will require the earth to give up her slain, and call His dead out of the dust of the earth. Why would God do this if they are in Heaven smiling down upon us now?

He wouldn’t because that is not the process. As we’ve learned in exploring death and the disposition of it, we know the dead are safely and patiently awaiting the day the Lord calls them out of their graves.

The time is coming when the dead will hear His voice and come out of their graves. Amen and praise the Lord for His faithfulness forever.

See the scripture, Isaiah 26

19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

21 For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.
