Reframe: the Lord God Planted a Garden

The heavens and the earth were completed perfectly as well as all the ornaments above them. And on the seventh day God ended the work of God in all that God made. And God rested on the seventh day from all of the work of God, the Most High.

In addition, God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, setting it apart from the other days. God did this because in that day God rested. Now these are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created.

In the day that the Lord God made the earth and heavens, these are the generations. Here God laid out every plant of the field, before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew. The Lord God had not caused the rain to come upon the earth, because there was not a man to work the ground.

the Lord God Planted a Garden

So a mist went up from the earth and watered the entire face of the ground. The Lord God then formed man of the slime and dust of the earth and breathed into face and nostrils the breath of life. And the man was made into a living soul.

The Lord God then planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and placed the man there that God had formed. The Lord God then brought out of the earth each tree fair to the sight and sweet for the man to eat. Also, the Lord God brought forth the tree of life in the middle of paradise, which is the garden.

The tree of knowing good and evil were also brought out. And a river went out from Eden in order to water the garden; this river was parted from there into four rivers heads. The name of the first river head was Pison. This river spans the whole land of Havilah.

Hiddekel, Ethiopia, Gihon, and Assyria Rivers

There is much gold there and the gold of that land is very good gold. That land also has bdellium and was loaded with the onyx stone. The name of the second river head is Gihon. It spans the whole land of Ethiopia. The name of the third river head is Hiddekel or the Tigris. This river goes toward the east towards Assyria.

The fourth river head is the Euphrates. The Lord God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden so he could work and care for the land. His job was to dress and keep the garden for the Lord God. Then the Lord God commanded the man and said You may eat of each and every tree of the garden freely.

However, do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In whatever day you eat of that tree, you will die by death. And that death will be sure and final. The Lord God then said, it is not good that a man be alone. We will make for him a helper just like himself.

the Lord God took the Rib

Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, as well as every bird of the air. The Lord God brought them before Adam to see what he would call them. Whatever Adam called their name, that became their name.

Adam gave names to all the cattle, birds, and every unreasoning beast of the field. However, Adam still did not find a helper suitable for him. Therefore the Lord God sent a deep sleep to Adam and while he slept, God took one of his ribs. The Lord God took the rib and then closed up the flesh over that place.

The Lord God used the rib from Adam to build into a woman, and brought her to Adam. then Adam said, This is now a bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. This will be called virago or Woman, because she was taken from Man.

Thus when a man will leave his father and mother, he will cleave to his wife. They then will become two beings in one flesh. Adam and his wife were naked, yet they were not ashamed.
