Here is another story that begins a shift for the children of Israel. A man named Elkanah was from the tribe of Ephraim. He had two wives, one Peninnah and the other, his favorite, Hannah. Hannah was unable to have children for a long while.
They prayed but the LORD wasn’t adhering to their prayers. Peninnah gave Hannah a tough time for her inability to have children. Because Hannah was Elkanah’s favorite, Peninnah would give Hannah a tough time regarding the then material-wealth-representation of being able to have children (for women).
Elkanah saw her crying one day, this was when she took her cries and petition to the priests. Hannah met Eli, who was the high priest at the time in Shiloh. He told her to go in peace that God would grant her whatever she was asking for. To be continued…
