Chapter Summaries: Exodus Chapter 28 Summary
In chapter 28, Aaron and his sons were chosen by God to minister or serve God in the priest’s office.
Holy garments were commanded for tailoring for glory and beauty. The garments needed to have a breastplate, ephod, robe, broidered coat, a mitre, and a girdle.
The colors were gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and fine linen. The robe was blue. The names of the children of Israel were engraved on the breastplate in onyx stones, six on each side.
the Urim and the Thummim
The names of the children of Israel was done so Aaron the high priest bore the names of the children of Israel before God, for a memorial. Also in the breastplate of judgment was the Urim and the Thummim.
On the hem of the garment were placed gold bells, so the sound is heard when the high priest goes into the holy place before the Lord. This was to protect the high priest, so he was not killed.
Finally, a plate of pure gold was made with the graven words on it like a signet that said, Holiness to the Lord or Holiness to YHWH for the high priest to wear on his head so that it is on his forehead.
Please it to the Most High God to add blessings to the reading and doing of His Holy Word through His Son Jesus Christ. So Be It!
