12 Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

I remember a friend of mine telling me that he was a “goon” (goon is street language is a violent fool) even though he was getting older. He recognized that although he was getting older, he was still acting or behaving as a fool. He knows that he is a fool, but the man or woman who is wise in their own conceit, the fool has more hope than they.

Why?

It is because the fool knows he is a fool, those wise in their own conceit cannot see that they are fools themselves.

13 The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.

The lazy man has an excuse for everything. He will tell his boss that he could not come to work today because there was a lion in the street.
