Have You Seen the Backsliding That Israel Has Done: “It is commonly said that if a man divorces his wife and she goes from him there is still a chance at reconciliation. But if she goes and becomes another man’s wife, will she be able to return to her first husband again?
Will, not the land (her body) be greatly polluted? But Israel has played the whore with many lovers (idols) against the LORD ALMIGHTY. Still, return to Me again, I will take you back,” says the LORD YAHOWAH.
“Open your eyes to the high places and see where have you not been laid down and been involved with another god. You have sat in the ways waiting for other gods like a thief in the Arabian wilderness. You have defiled the earth with your fornications and your wickedness.
GOD Will Not Hold His Anger Forever
Therefore, the dew of heaven, the showers of heaven have been withheld from you. There is no latter rain for you; you have a whore’s forehead, your mindset is that of a vicious whore, you refuse to be ashamed.
After all of this, you won’t cry out to Me saying My Father, you are the guide of my youth? Will He reserve His anger forever? Will He keep His wrath until the end? See, you have spoken and performed as many evil things as you could.”
The LORD ALMIGHTY also said to me in the days of King Josiah, “Have you seen the backsliding that Israel has done? She has gone up to every high mountain and under every green tree playing the harlot, whoring with other gods.
Israel Committed Adultery with Sticks and Stones
Even after she’d done all these things, I said to her to turn still to Me. She would not return. Then her treacherous sister, Judah, saw all of it. I saw when all the ways backsliding Israel committed adultery, I had to put her away and give her a letter of divorce.
Then her sister Judah saw and wasn’t afraid, but went and became a terrible whore also. So it came to pass because she was so light, so simple, so aloof with her whoredom that she defiled the land.
They committed adultery with stones and wood; in all of this, treacherous Judah still has not turned to Me with her whole heart. She’s only turned feignedly, fakely, falsely,” says the LORD MOST-HIGH.
Acknowledge Your Sins and Transgressions
And the LORD said to me, Jeremiah, again, “The backsliding Israel has justified her more than treacherous Judah. Go and proclaim these words toward the north and compel them to return. Return O backsliding Israel,” says the LORD ALMIGHTY.”
“I will not cause My anger to fall upon you because I am merciful,” says the LORD ELOHIM, “I will not keep My anger forever. Only acknowledge your iniquity that you’ve transgressed against the MOST-HIGH, your ELOHIM.
Acknowledge that you’ve scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree and you have not obeyed My voice,” says the LORD ALMIGHTY. “Turn O backsliding children,” says the LORD OMNIPOTENT, “Because I am married to you.
I will take you one by one out of a city, and two of a family, and bring you to Zion. From there I will give you pastors according to My heart who will feed you with My knowledge and understanding.”
Remark’s On the Chapter
The MOST-HIGH POWER is so eloquent and yet graphic and clear with His parables. In this set of words from the prophet Jeremiah (in Jeremiah chapter 3), the LORD brings the analogy of a wife departing her husband and marrying another man.
The second marriage of the wife doesn’t work out and she returns to her first husband. The LORD says isn’t the land polluted in such a case? Even though this is the case with men, it is not the case with the ALMIGHTY; He has a far more exceeding heart of forgiveness and mercy.
Even in His anger, He will not be angry forever. ELOHIM loves Israel and tells the backsliding nation to return to Him. The troubling part of the chapter is that the ten tribes became more justified than the kingdom of Judah.
Why?
Because Judah watched the actions of Israel and the consequences; Israel went into captivity to the Assyrians. This happened because of their adultery with the idol Baal. Judah watched this and did the same and in a bit of insanity, expected a different result.
Therefore, of the two kingdoms of the LORD ELOHIM, Israel is more justified even though they first went to serve the false idol, Baal. In all of this, the MOST-HIGH would that Judah and Israel only acknowledge their transgression and return to Him.
The same message CHRIST brought during His ministry, “Repent, for the Kingdom of ELOHIM is at hand!” Repent causes us to acknowledge we are on the wrong course, thus we have to change our ways.
Although Jeremiah and Isaiah are primarily speaking to Judah and Israel, the nations will follow. At the appointed time, the LORD ALMIGHTY will give them pastors who teach them according to His heart, giving them knowledge and understanding. Praise ye the LORD.
And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel. From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. The disciples asked, “Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?”
