The Princes of the Tribes Bring Gifts to the Tabernacle as in Numbers 7: When Moses had finished setting up the sacred tent, he dedicated it to the MOST-HIGH, together with its furnishings, the altar, and its equipment. Then the twelve princes of the tribes of Israel, the same men who had been in charge of counting the people, came to the tent with gifts for HIS Majesty, the LORD ALMIGHTY.

Always come before the LORD with gifts, even if it is a gift of praise. They brought six-strong carts and twelve oxen—one ox from each prince and a cart from every two. The Lord said to Moses, “Accept these gifts, so the Levites can use them here at the sacred tent for carrying the sacred things.”

Then Moses took the carts and oxen and gave them to the Levites, who were under the leadership of Ithamar, son of Aaron. Moses gave two carts and four oxen to the Gershonites for their work and four carts and eight oxen to the Merarites for their work. Everything is done very orderly and well because it is the LORD’s business.

Prince of the Tribes Offer Gifts

But Moses did not give any to the Kohathites, because they were in charge of the sacred objects that had to be carried on their shoulders. On the day the altar was dedicated, the twelve leaders brought offerings for its dedication.

The LORD said to Moses, “Each day one leader is to give his offering for the dedication.” They did not offer at once, each prince and tribe had their own day to offer before the LORD ALMIGHTY.

Thus each leader brought the following gifts: a silver bowl that weighed over three pounds and a silver sprinkling bowl weighing almost two pounds. Both of the bowls were filled with flour and olive oil as grain sacrifices and weighed according to the official standards.

Also offered was a small gold dish filled with incense; a young bull, a full-grown ram, and a year-old ram as sacrifices to please the LORD. In addition, a goat as a sin offering; two bulls, five full-grown rams, five goats, and five rams a year old as sacrifices to ask for the LORD’s blessing.

The first tribe to offer was the tribe of Judah, the prince of the tribe was Nahshon. Here are more of the details in the scripture:

30 On the fourth day Elizur the son of Shedeur, prince of the children of Reuben, did offer:

36 On the fifth day Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai, prince of the children of Simeon, did offer:

42 On the sixth day Eliasaph the son of Deuel, prince of the children of Gad, offered:

48 On the seventh day Elishama the son of Ammihud, prince of the children of Ephraim, offered:

54 On the eighth day offered Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur, prince of the children of Manasseh:

60 On the ninth day Abidan the son of Gideoni, prince of the children of Benjamin, offered:

66 On the tenth day Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai, prince of the children of Dan, offered:

72 On the eleventh day Pagiel the son of Ocran, prince of the children of Asher, offered:

78 On the twelfth day Ahira the son of Enan, prince of the children of Naphtali, offered:

89 And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him.

Continued Gift Offerings

And so when the altar was dedicated to the LORD, these twelve leaders brought the following gifts. They brought twelve silver bowls and twelve silver sprinkling bowls weighing a total of about sixty pounds.

All of these were according to the official standards; twelve gold dishes filled with incense and weighing about three pounds; twelve bulls, twelve full-grown rams, and twelve rams a year old as sacrifices to please the LORD.

They also brought along with the proper grain sacrifices twelve goats as sacrifices for sin; twenty-four bulls, sixty full-grown rams, sixty goats, and sixty rams a year old as sacrifices to ask the LORD’s blessing.

Moses Speaking with the LORD Protocol

Whenever Moses needed to talk with HIS Majesty, the LORD ALMIGHTY, he went into the sacred tent, where he heard the LORD’s voice coming from between the two winged creatures above the lid of the sacred chest.

Once reading this chapter, it is clear the twelve days of the so-called “Christmas” came by taking pieces of this gift exchange presented in this chapter. These were gifts for HIS Majesty, the LORD POWER of Israel, but not for HIS Majesty’s birthday.

They are gifts for a KING. We pray this chapter was edifying to you in the name of HIS Majesty, the LORD, the MESSIAH of Israel.
