Today’s question is:
Why did Jesus Christ allow his cousin and forerunner, and messenger, John the Baptist to be beheaded?
This is a great question; I used to wonder the same thing when I learned the closeness of their family ties and relationship. Here is the thing to understand; their generation was one where they were rebelling against the establishment (church).
John grew up in the spirit of the Lord and had a mission; Christ grew up the same. The mission during our time here on the earth is more vital than saving one’s life. They just walk by faith and they do not try to save their life because they understand they will lose it.
They know that if they lose their life, they will gain it, even eternally. Therefore, John was not concerned with anything except the mission, and Christ also was not concerned but with the mission. Beyond this, we all should learn a great lesson; the work doesn’t stop.
The Work and Mission Continues
Just like in the world today, 9/11 happens, wars happen, covid happens; what do the nations do? They pick themselves up by the bootstraps and continue on. The word resilience comes to mind. Those who are about Christ and are His Kingdom of Priests on the earth must adopt or have the same mentality when it comes to the mission of reclaiming the earth.
Leaders may go down, friends, family, and close ones may die or just leave the faith. There is nothing you can do about it; you must continue the mission as Christ did in this case. Be strong, be very courageous, be ready to take up the mantle, and be resilient in the mission of all missions!
I pray this has been edifying in the name of the Son of God.
