O Thou Seer, Go, Flee Thee Away

O Thou Seer, Go, Flee Thee Away
Valedictorian Who Recited the Lord’s Prayer Although Told Not Too!

One of the greater themes in the Bible is the rebuking of seers or prophets, as they began to call them, and ushering them to flee away! No body, since the times of the beginning, has wanted to hear the words of a seer from the Most High.

Look at the world today and ask if anything has changed on this subject? We can’t say the Lord’s Prayer in public, we can’t do nearly anything that relates to Jesus, the Word of God, or scripture anywhere.

The phrase is still here even though we appear on paper or on surface to love the prophet and seer. Nevertheless, the inward thoughts are O thou seer, go, flee thee away, and we love it so.

In the book of Amos, I spotted this and just felt the need to share with you today how people have been telling the prophet to “shut up” then and still commanding he or she “shut up!”

Look at Amos 7:

12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:

13 But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court.

Amaziah was a false prophet working in the court of an evil king of Samaria, Jeroboam. When Amaziah heard Amos’s prophecy against Israel, he told Amos to get out of Samaria with that type of talk. He told Amos to go to Judah and do all that prophesying there.

O Thou Seer, Go, Flee Thee Away

Is this any different today?
2 Timothy 4:

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Brothers and sisters, friends and family, ladies and gentlemen … the time is already here. Prophets are being ran out of town because people would rather hear a lie and fables than the truth of the Word written in the scriptures.

Today we run the prophet away that attempts to actually read us the contents of the great book sitting on our desk or book shelf.
