Man Became a Living Soul

What many people do not know is that the soul is the body.  It is commonly thought the soul is inside the body but the scriptures disagree with such theory. God wants you to know the truth; that is why He had the scriptures written so we, as well as other generations before and after, can read it and know the truth.

God has a great life planned out for those that fear and love Him and believe in His Christ.  I remember a young lady who told me that we have a soul inside of us that goes back to Heaven upon our death.

This is not a far-fetched theory; but look at what the scriptures say and see if there is congruency to such a statement, the soul is inside the body.  In Genesis chapter two; God did something very mysterious:

No Breath of Life Leaves …

7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

(Emphasis mine)

God formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathe life into the man’s nostrils, which was the breath of life, and the man became a living soul.  If we reverse the process before the breath of life, we would come up with the conclusion man would have been a lifeless soul.

This very scripture means man himself is the soul. If not, the scripture would have read, “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and put a soul inside the man.”

The body and the soul are one in the same; this is why Jesus prayed to God that He would not leave His Soul (body), in hell upon His death. It is a play on words; in the new testament, the word soul refers to spirit, in the old testament soul means body. And consequently, when Jesus rose from the dead, His soul was raised not just His spirit.

Not inside the BODY!

The soul is the body, not inside the body and there are many other scriptures we’d love to share with you on this topic; if you are interested or want to learn more on this topic; leave a comment or email us and we will have those scriptures sent to you.

Pray for peace in Jerusalem, pray for the fatherless and widowed, the sick and bereaved, and lastly pray for yourself; and I hope this posting finds you well, that it increases you in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, and makes or made you better in Jesus name… Amen.   God bless you…

MAN BECAME A LIVING SOUL July 20, 2011

“The body and soul are one and the same.”
    What about Matthew 10:28?

    • That is a good point…we checked on the people who told this particular story…it appears that the soul was used as spirit because it was used differently in other gospels… as in…Luke 12:
4And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

5But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

Here it only refers to the body. The way Bible says that a fact is established by two or more witnesses…Matthew 10 would only be one witness…there are countless more witnesses for the soul being the body rather than separate. Does that make sense Terry?

    Matthew 10:28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

    Ecclesiastes 12:7 after Matthew 10:28.
I just came across this one.

      Hi Terry

I am not part of this Bible Study Ministry, however, Eccl 17:7 ” At death the spirit will return to God who gave it—The words of the wise are as goads—The whole duty of man is to fear God and keep His commandments. … 7 Then shall the adust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”

I find the best way to answer this is with what happened to Jesus from when He was crucufied.
Jesus cried “Father, into thy hands I commend My Spirit” quite simply He breathed His last and died, His spirit went back to God who gave it, this is exactly what Eccl 12:7 is saying, however, if you go down the road that our spirits are anything more than breath, then you have to agree that we (or part of us ie our spirit in this case) pre-existed, there is no other way around it…grace and peace to you.

      • Salud Brother Andrew; I agree with you; that was a very wise insight and I appreciate it very much.

        • Timothy Edwards Timothy Edwards

Body the go back to the dust when you die.

Soul. According to how you lived on earth. If you live for the devil. There is hell.
If live for Jesus and keep his commandment heaven belongs to you.

Spirit. The spirit goes back the God.

  5. The words spirit and soul are used in similar and different ways, as seen in the above passages. What are the clear differences? what are the definitions of body, soul, and spirit in relation to the Bible and creation story?

    • Thank you sis Margaret, praise GOD for you! That is a great question. In English there is a term or word known as deduction. Man’s body is the soul; a spirit was blown into the body and man became a living soul. Prior to that, we would deduce that the man was a nonliving soul or dead soul. In the old Hebrew testament, the word soul was meant for the body!

The phrase, mind, body, and soul is new – what they are attempting to say is mind (conscious reasoning), body (physical body), and soul (spiritual unconscious thinking or being).

In the new testament, which was translated from Greek, soul refers more so to spirit (the thoughts, either conscious or subconscious). This is where the confusion comes from, the Hebrew and Greek translations or transliterations.

The soul is the body. That is all we really have to know!

When CHRIST said not to fear those who can kill the body but cannot kill the soul (Matthew 10:28); that is a new testament greek translation. What it would have read in Hebrew or in the old testament is that you do not have to fear those who can kill the soul (body) but cannot kill the spirit.

I hope this helps; send us an email if it doesn’t; praise ye the LORD for you, Sis Margaret.

smh..hilarious….here is the truth…the soul(male/female) is “created” in the image of God…next the body is “formed”of the dust of the ground…at this point we has a “created soul” inside of a “formed body”..next God breathes the breath of Life(Spirit) into this man ….then this man becomes a Living soul Living in a body of Dust…we are still Living souls in bodies of Dust…man has never been a dead soul…death didnt exist until adam ate the fruit from the Tree of knowledge of Good and evil…before God breathed into man , man wasnt a dead soul but a soul without consciousness in a body made of dust…the spirit of God causes the dust to turn into flesh

        • Prophet John, you outlined that so very eloquently and correctly. Thank you so very kindly. All praises to the ALMIGHTY Ruler of Heaven and Earth and to His Son the Christ.

        • ReRe ReRe

So the created soul looks like God but has no life? Lifeless until the breath of life? Couldn’t think or reason?

          • A created soul looks like a manikin or body in a casket, ReRe. It is lifeless, sleep, or deceased. The breath of life makes it an animated soul. Does that make sense?

    Would you then say that?:
    Because God breathed into us,
    the formed shape,
    I AM, of God
    One with The I AM
In Him I live, and move and have my being
That all of me, spirit, soul and body, is I AM

  10. Angeline W. Angeline W.

Hi I believe the soul is the body. I would like more clarification on this subject The soul is the body, not inside the body. can you send me the other scriptures

    • Hi Angeline,

Translation kind of throws things off; spirit and soul are the ingredients. Soul is the entity that comprises of both spirit and body. Are you on our newsletter; if not send me an email I’ll send you our more modern teaching on this subject. support @ biblestudyministry.com

John6:63 it is the Spirit who gives LiFE. The flesh profits nothing. The word I speak to you are Spirit & they are LiFE.# Due to Adam’s disobedience for not obeying God’s instruction/word~ he was cut off spiritually dead~ disconnected from God. That’s why John 20:22 Jesus said ‘Receive the Holy Spirit ‘ in order to be Born Again to see the Kingdom of God (John3:3). Praise Lord Jesus.
