Leviticus Chapter 8 Summary: Chapter Summary

Leviticus chapter 8 summary is based on the ceremony for ordaining or consecrating priests of the LORD. The chapter began with an actual purification ceremony as God commanded Moses.

The prophet was told to gather Aaron and his sons before the entire camp of the children of Israel. God was about to magnify Aaron and his sons before the eyes of the entire camp of the congregation. Moses brought Aaron and his sons and washed them with water.

He then dressed them in their coats, robes, ephods, breastplates, and Urim and Thummim. Moses placed the mitre on Aaron’s head along with the golden plate, the holy crown. Aaron sounds like he was anointed a king.

Leviticus Chapter 8 Summary

All this was done as the leader and prophet of Israel anointed the tabernacle and sprinkled the altar seven times. Following this, Moses poured the anointing oil on Aaron’s head, anointed him and sanctified him as God’s high priest.

After Moses was done with Aaron, Aaron’s sons were brought forth. Coats were placed on them and a bullock was brought as a sin offering. They laid their hands on the bullock’s head and killed it.

The blood was put on the altar to purify it, and the fat was burnt on the altar. The hide, flesh, and dung were burnt with fire outside the camp. It wasn’t over because next was brought the burnt offering.

The Consecration of the LORD’s Priests

They laid their hands on the ram for the burnt offering and slew it, cutting it in pieces and burning its head, the pieces, and the fat. Another ram was brought in, the ram of consecration. The same routine was carried out with the second ram.

Moses put some of the blood of the ram of consecration on the right ear, right thumb, and great toe of the right foot of Aaron and his sons. Next, unleavened bread and cakes were brought forth and the right shoulder of the ram for Aaron to wave before the Lord as a wave offering.

They were then ordered to stay inside the tabernacle for seven days until the consecration was completed and an atonement was made for them, and they did so.

Whew!

This is the summary of Leviticus chapter 8, glory be to the Highest.
