Judges Chapter 18 Summary

Judges Chapter 18 Summary

Judges 18 begins with a reiteration of the fact that Israel had no king during these days.

That is no physical king and neither was God their king. This means they had absolutely no order.

The tribe of Dan were trying to finish collecting on their inheritance in the land and sent five really valorous (courageous) men to spy the land. Along the way they run into Micah’s house and find his priest also.

They ask him for direction and if their way would be prosperous. He says go in peace for God is their way.

They went and spied the land and saw it was very good, a place where there is no want of anything that is in the earth. They returned and told their people that the land is good and easy to take.

As they return, they take the priest out of Micah’s house by force, stating it is better for you to be a priest to a tribe and family in Israel than to be priest to one man.

The priest was happy to hear it and went with them. Micah’s neighbors put up a little resistance, but the children of Dan were ready for war and told them to settle down or die.

They were rolling with angry fellows and killers and if they didn’t want to die, it was best they lose out on their priest.

We pray the Father to add blessings to the reading and doing of His Holy Word through His Son Jesus the Messiah. Amen!

Its each man for himself here! I noticed that when the Danites asked the preist if they should continue their journey , he tells them to go in peace and he didn’t even pray! everyone is so self seeking and this is a complete anarchy without God in these people’s lives! yikes

    • Melanie, this is how life is without the Most-High God in our lives. Thank you for commenting!
