Jerusalem the Throne of the LORD ALMIGHTY: It will come to pass at that time when the children of Israel become multiplied and increase mightily in the land, they will no longer talk about the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD ALMIGHTY.
It won’t even come into their mind at all; neither will they visit the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD. That will be an old exercise, says the LORD. At that time they will call Jerusalem the Throne of the LORD ALMIGHTY.
All nations will be gathered to Jerusalem to the name of the LORD. No one will walk to the imagination of their own evil hearts any longer. In those days the house of Judah will walk with the house of Israel; they will come out of the land of the north, together, to the land that I the LORD, have given their fathers for an inheritance.
Weeping and Supplications of Israel
I said, How will I put you among the children and give you a pleasant land, a very good land and heritage above the hosts of nations? Then I said, you will call Me, My Father and you will not turn away from Me again.
Just like a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so have you done treacherously with Me, O house of Israel, says the LORD ALMIGHTY. A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel were heard.
They wept because they have perverted their way and have forgotten the LORD their ELOHIM. Come back O backsliding children and I will heal your backslidings and unfaithfulness.
Confusion and Shame Covers their Face
They will answer, see, we come to you because you are the LORD our POWER. Of a truth, in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills and the multitude of mountains; only from the LORD our ELOHIM is the salvation of Israel.
Shame has devoured the work of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and herds, their sons and daughters have been devoured in shame. We lie down in our shame and in our confusion.
Confusion covers our faces all day long because we have sinned against the LORD our ELOHIM. We and our fathers, from our youth, even to this very day, have not obeyed the voice of the MOST-HIGH our ELOHIM.
Chapter Remarks
This chapter has so much to offer in the things mentions here in the latter part of Jeremiah chapter 3. As the children of Israel multiply in the land when the LORD returns, they will no longer talk about the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD. Why is this?
The ark of the Covenant was a representation that the LORD ALMIGHTY was among the children of Israel. He was indeed among them, but He had to leave them because of their transgressions.
When they made the golden calf after being freed from Egypt, the LORD departed from them. He left them an angel to go with them instead of He Himself. This is when things became a representation because they eagerly, like the other nations, desired the lower priesthood.
No Longer Seeking the Ark of the LORD
Instead of loving your neighbor, you need laws to force you to love them. Instead of having a broken heart and contrite spirit, you need the shedding of the blood of bulls and goats to show you are sorry to the LORD.
And instead of the LORD ALMIGHTY being here, you need the representation that He is here to believe and partake in His glory. When the LORD returns, He will be in Zion, in Jerusalem; they will no longer seek the ark of the Covenant; the LORD will be with them Himself.
Israel and Judah, together, will gather to the LORD. He will bring them out of the land of the north and give them the land of their inheritance, which was given to their fathers. The ALMIGHTY will permanently fix their backslidings and deliver everlasting salvation.
Until then, as they awake from the stupor of lies, they will lie down in the shame of knowing they had it all, they had the MOST-HIGH but gave it up for the plan of Satan. What a great shame.
And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel. From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. The disciples asked, “Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?”
