How is the faithful city become a harlot? it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it, but now murderers. Your silver has become dross, your wine mixed with water: your princes are rebellious, and they are companions of thieves.
Everyone loves gifts, and follows after rewards; they do not judge the fatherless righteously, neither do they allow the causes of the widow to come to them. Therefore says the LORD ALMIGHTY, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease Myself of My adversaries and avenge Myself of My enemies.
I will turn My hand upon you, and purely purge away your dross, and take away all your tin. And I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning; afterward your will be called The city of righteousness, and the faithful city.
Sinners Will Be Destroyed with Transgressors
Zion will be redeemed with judgment and her converts with righteousness. And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners will be done together, and those who forsake the LORD will be consumed.
Because those who forsake the LORD will be ashamed of the oaks which they have desired, and they will be confounded for the gardens that they have chosen. They will be like an oak whose leaf has faded away and like a garden that has no water.
The strong will be like a tow; the maker of it will be like a spark. The two of them will both burn together and no one will quench their burning.
The children of Israel obviously took the wrong path when it came to serving a higher deity. They had access to the Highest Executive in the company, yet they chose to hang with the guys who would end up in the mailroom (no disrespect to my brothers and sisters in the mailrooms of society).
There is a difference between being with the CEO of a company all day and being with a team manager. The good part about the ALMIGHTY’s question about how has the faithful city become a city of harlots is that HE will reverse it all eventually.
The children of Israel will once again become the city of righteousness. They will receive all their judges, counselors, and righteous men and women. Israel will be purged of their unrighteousness and become refined; they and the nations who join in with them. This post was based on Isaiah chapter 1 verse 21-31
