Jesus took all of the work. Reuben is the first son to Jacob. He blew receiving the firstborn blessings by lying with Jacob’s concubine.
He was the first born to the first wife of Jacob, Leah. Once he blew the mission, it didn’t go to the next son, it went to the first born of the next wife.

This turned out to be Joseph, son of Jacob and Leah. He received the inheritance and blessings of the first born. This is why he received double portions, and also why the ten tribes was led by the tribe of Ephraim, a son of Joseph.
What does this have to do with the title, walk before mine anointed for ever?
Leah didn’t lose everything because of Reuben. The tribe of Judah was given the scepter, that is the rulership. The house of David ran the kingdom until the split, and when it is time, the Branch will come and sit on David’s throne (this is Jesus, see Luke 1:32).
A Faithful Priest I Will Raise Up
So Jesus took the kingship job. Ephraim and Reuben had a shot, but blew it. What else did Jesus take or take back, I should say?
The priest job was lent to Levi, more specific, to Aaron and his sons. Nevertheless, Eli was not a faithful priest, and although Levi will be established forever as Jesus’ inheritance, Jesus took back the head job as High Priest forever.
34 And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die both of them.
35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.
A Faithful Priest I Will Raise Up
The Father will raise a faithful priest that will do according to His heart and mind. Thus, Jesus is the current High Priest, and when Jesus reclaims the earth by taking the rulership from the Gentiles, He will reclaim His Kingship over Israel, and over the entire globe. A Faithful Priest I Will Raise Up!
