Exodus Chapter 23 Summary

Exodus Chapter 23 Summary: Chapter 23, continues with the judgments of God for the children of Israel to keep and do.

God gives advice and consequences for behaviors committed against others. One warning was not to follow a multitude (of people) to do evil.

The children of Israel were commanded (as they are today) to treat their neighbor as they treat themselves. They were to avoid taking gifts for judgment because a gift blinds one’s eyes.

Exodus chapter 23 summary- Sabbath

The Sabbath day was reminded to them to rest with their entire family and belongings, as well as keeping the feasts of the Lord. Three times in a year are all males to appear before the Lord God.

The chapter ends with God promising to send an angel to go into the land of Canaan before the children of Israel.

They are warned to obey the angel’s voice and not to provoke him because he will not pardon their sins because the angel comes in the name of the Lord.

If they obey the angel, God will drive out the inhabitants of the land and take away sickness from the midst of the children of Israel.
