Concerning the Estate of the Sons of Men

Concerning the Estate of the Sons of Men

King Solomon, the preacher and king over Israel, wrote many great things in his lifetime, songs, poems, and proverbs.

He was a wise man, God blessed Him so, but there is something very thought provoking, and vital for consideration he said concerning the estate of the sons of men. He realized that humans, mankind, the sons of men, are nothing but animals in the physical or physiological makeup of themselves.

His reasoning is just as ours is today, the same thing that takes place with the animal, or beast, also takes place with mankind; that event is we all die. We have one breath and therefore mankind has no real preeminence over animals in that physical sense.

The preacher went on to say, all is vanity. It is in verse 20 that he spelled it out for us, all go to one place, all are dust, and all turn to dust again. What a vanity of life, he laments (and so do I). And no one knows for sure (for sure means by science and math) if the spirit of man goes up and the spirit of the animals goes down or vice versa.

Concerning the Estate of the Sons of Men

All of this is up for discussion, debate, and at the end, inconclusive.

What we know for sure is the end state of mankind, is back to the ground, back to dust, back to where he was taken out of. Now there is a biblical answer, which corresponds to Jesus’ statement of the last day.

This is when man, unlike the animals, will be redeemed and if they are blessed, they will receive their promise and blessings of a eternal permanent life.

We will continue this in a future post, for now praise the Lord through His Son Jesus the Messiah, and bless His Holy name. Also, blessings to you and we hope to study with you again.

See the scripture below by the preacher and king of Israel:

Ecclesiastes chapter 3

18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

See you next time.
