Deuteronomy chapter 16 summary again continues Moses instructions to the children of Israel. It starts off with a reminder to keep the Lord’s Holy Days. In the month Abib is the Passover. It’s a very important day.
Following the Passover is the seven-day feast of unleavened bread. For seven days it takes place for all Israel and the stranger within their gates. No leavened bread is to be seen within their coast for seven days.
After unleavened bread, Israel was to count seven weeks and the day after the seventh Sabbath was the feast of weeks or Pentecost. Bring a freewill offering of thine hand and give to the Lord according to as God has blessed, is the command on this day.
Deuteronomy Chapter 16 Summary
In the latter part of the year, the feast of Tabernacles takes place. It is also for seven days and everyone was to rejoice in the feast of the Lord. The father, his wife and children, his employees, the Levite, stranger, fatherless, and widowed that were with him also.
Everyone is to celebrate the Lord God. These are the three times in a year all males were to present themselves before the Lord their God. The feast of unleavened bread, feasts of weeks, and feasts of tabernacles were those three times in a year.
The chapter ends with the Israelites who were to appoint judges and officers of every tribe. The judge was commanded not to take bribes or gifts in order not to pervert righteous judgment.
