Joshua chapter 6 summary continued the narrative from chapter 5. After the captain of the LORD visited Israel and Joshua in particular, Joshua asked what must he do.
The chapter began with God’s instructions to Joshua on how the children of Israel should take the city of Jericho. Everyone in Jericho was shut in. God commanded Joshua to circle the city once a day for six days.
In addition, Israel should arm themselves with seven priests who each have a trumpet to blast. On the seventh day, they were commanded to circle the city seven times. On the seventh circle, the seven priests were now commanded to blow their trumpets with a loud long blast.
Joshua Chapter 6 Summary
When all the people heard they trumpets blast, they were commanded to shout aloud. We’re not done yet! After the trumpets and the people’s shout, the walls of the city would come tumbling down flat and everyone would be able and should go into and take the city.
The children of Israel all did as God commanded Joshua; the seven priests blasted and the people shouted and the walls came down flat. The Israelites went in and took the city of Jericho.
They destroyed the Canaanites and Amorites in Jericho as the Lord commanded them to do. The Israelites were warned not to take anything except brass, gold, and silver. They were also warned not to harm Rahab, the harlot, and her house.
God was with Joshua, and his fame began to travel throughout all the region. This is the summary of Joshua chapter 6, glory to the Most-High God.
