Kingdom of Priests: What is the Purpose of Israel ?

Devotional: I Will Instruct and Teach You

What is the Purpose of Israel ?

What is the purpose of Israel. Interesting to understand is a statement by Jesus Christ to a woman, read in John chapter 4:

21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

In the passage above, Jesus spoke with a woman and He told her the time is coming when no one will worship God at a mountain, nor at Jerusalem. Jesus further told her that she does not know what or who she worships, but Jesus and His students know exactly who they worship.

the Oracles of God Committed to Israel

The reason Jesus and His understudies know the Father is because they know and understand His salvation (Jesus Christ). The end of verse 22 says, “for salvation is of the Jews.”

This aligns with Paul’s assertion that the oracles of God are with the children of Israel (Judah, “the Jew” (Romans 3:2)). We do not go to “Christian” church services with a Qu’ran or book of Hinduism in hand.

We don’t do this because salvation isn’t of the Muslims or Indians; it is of the Jews/Israel. People can learn many great things from the Quran or from Hinduism, and can improve their life under the sun.

Nevertheless, salvation isn’t in those writings. To learn about the salvation of God, one needs the book of the Hebrews, the book of the house of Jacob, and that is the Holy Bible. In order to learn about the salvation of Jesus the Holy Messiah from God, one needs the Word of God.

the purpose of Israel is based on right-standing!

In Isaiah chapter 56, Isaiah shares that the Father’s salvation is Jesus the Messiah, and this is what the entire world needs in order to have salvation. The Kingdom cannot be restored to you if you yourself are broken, therefore you need salvaging and this is what Jesus took care of for all mankind.

1 Thus saith the Lord, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.

8 The Lord God, which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.

The Messiah Jesus, is God’s righteousness revealed. Jesus puts us in right-standing with the Heavenly Kingdom. This is why if you are not covered by the right-standing Authority, which is Jesus Christ, you are not a recognized individual in the kingdom.

Such grave situation will lead to one to perish in their rebellion or unrighteousness (lack of right standing). Jesus will gather the house of Jacob, but He will also gather all the families of the earth back to the Father. This is what it means to gather others to Him in verse eight.

the Light has lighted upon Israel!

This is the order of God, God begins with one family near and dear to Him, and expands on through all the sons of Adam, also near and dear to Him; see Isaiah chapter 9:

8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.

The Lord sent a word into Jacob (the word being Jesus Christ) and Jesus has lighted upon Israel. A physical son of Jacob, armed with the Word of God (the Lord’s Spirit), becomes a son of God, or a son of Israel.

The sons of Israel then are to take that light, and light upon the lost sons of Jacob and also light upon the Gentiles. This is the purpose of Israel, to light up the world. Israel lights up the world in regards to God’s salvation. This will lead us all back to right standing of God’s Kingdom on earth.
