No Man Has Ascended into Heaven

A conversation between Jesus and a Pharisee named Nicodemus, revealed a lot of good stuff for the Kingdom of God. It also envelope the destruction of the thought or doctrine of going to heaven after death.

Jesus was disappointed in Nicodemus being a teacher of the law and not knowing some of the basic or trivial things Jesus expected one of Nicodemus’s caliber to know. Jesus said if Nicodemus doesn’t know the basic stuff, how will he respond to the deep and intricate things Jesus will reveal?

See the scriptures below, John chapter 3

12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

There are some earthly things that many Christians have not discerned, even in this generation. Like Nicodemus, they cannot possibly be ready for heavenly things.

Jesus concludes that no man has ascended, or gone up, to heaven except for the One who came down from heaven. The One is Jesus, who was speaking of Himself.

In a classic use of deduction; if no man has gone up to heaven, except for Jesus, where would all of mankind who have lived and died up to this very point be? From dust thou art, and to dust thou shalt return.
