Deuteronomy Chapter 34 Summary

Deuteronomy chapter 34 summary completes the story of Moses. This chapter began with Moses going to the plains of Moab to prepare to die. Moses was able to view the land as promised and then went the way of sleep (death).

The chapter doesn’t identify who buried Moses, however it appeared it was the Lord’s angels and not a man. The great prophet was buried in a valley in the land of Moab and no one knows where his grave is even unto this day. Moses was 120 years of age when he slept with his ancestors.

It is written that he was still strong and his eyes were still very good, but the Lord was simply moving on with the project. God had a new leader set to carry Israel on into the land.

Deuteronomy Chapter 34 Summary

The children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab for thirty days, then Joshua became full of the spirit of might and wisdom because Moses laid his hands on him. The people listened to Joshua, because the Lord magnified him, but there was not a prophet like Moses in Israel whom God spoke with face to face.
