2 Kings chapter 24 summary started with Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and Jehoiakim, king of Judah. Jehoiakim became Nebuchadnezzar’s servant three years, then he rebelled.
This led to bands of troops from the Chaldees, Syria, Moab, and even Ammon to slowly make Judah weak. The prophets that the LORD sent to Judah could not convey to the people to listen nor could they to the rulers.
Judah was a plane in the air with no wheels; they were headed towards a harsh crash. Judah could not receive help from Egypt because Nebuchadnezzar had taken control of all the lands from the river in Egypt to the Euphrates river.
2 Kings Chapter 24 Summary
Jehoiachin was appointed to the throne of Judah but was removed after only three months following his rebellion against Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar came and personally took him to Babylon, along with his mother, wives, princes, servants, and other officials.
The prophecy against Jerusalem was taking form, in that everything would be taken out of the temple of the LORD and the king’s palace. The king of Babylon took all of the quality workers out of Judah and transferred them to Babylon.
The Babylonian king appointed a man named Mattaniah, whoM he changed his name to Zedekiah, as king of Judah. This twenty-one-year-old ruler and uncle to Jehoiachin ruled eleven years in Judah before he also rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar.
The king of Babylon came and emptied Judah and Jerusalem of everyone and everything, except the poorest of people.
This is the summary of 2 Kings chapter 24, and the demise of the kingdom of Israel and Judah. Glory to the Exalted King of Israel.
