2 Kings chapter 21 summary, is a summary that will introduce Hezekiah’s son, Manasseh. This was a troubled young man who was nothing like his father. Perhaps he was angry at the loss of his dad at a young age, at any rate, let’s get the summary.
The chapter began with a brief chronicle of the coronation of the twelve-year-old boy. The boy was Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah. Unlike his righteous father, Manasseh did evil before the LORD when he came of age.
He rebuilt high places his father destroyed, he welcomed back altars to Baal and worshipped and encouraged worship of the host of heaven. He got into sacrificing children, observing times, enchantments, familiar spirits, and did his best to really provoked the LORD to anger.
2 Kings Chapter 21 Summary
He did much wickedness in all Jerusalem and Judah and made the people run away from the Laws of Moses, which the LORD commanded. They (the people of Judah) exceeded the sins of the Amorites.
Manasseh’s behavior made the LORD promise to bring evil and destruction to Jerusalem and Judah. The LORD promised to wipe them down like a man wipes a dish. God would finally forsake them, and leave His treasure to themselves.
They had been rebellious since the days they were brought out of Egypt and the LORD had had enough of them (for the moment anyway). Manasseh also killed a lot of innocent people in Jerusalem, this was the really disturbing part to the LORD.
When he died, his son Amon took his position as king of Judah. Amon was much the same as his dad, Manasseh.
The chapter ended with conspirators who plotted to kill Amon; they killed him in his own house. The people of Judah then killed those who plotted and killed Amon, and they make Amon’s son Josiah, king in his place.
This is the summary of 2 Kings chapter 21, glory to the Almighty God.
