2 Kings Chapter 20 Summary: Chapter Summaries

2 Kings chapter 20 summary starts out with the current king of Judah, Hezekiah. He’d become ill nearly to death and the prophet Isaiah paid him a visit with a message not so comforting from the LORD.

The message wasn’t good for the king; he was told to set his house in order because the illness would defeat him. Hezekiah turned and immediately prayed to the LORD for healing.

Not only for healing Hezekiah prayed, but also for recognition. That’s right; the king of Judah put his works and integrity before God, as he stated he’d been pleasant before the LORD and kept a perfect heart.

2 Kings Chapter 20 Summary

The LORD heard and acknowledged his petition and immediately had the prophet Isaiah return to Hezekiah. Isaiah did not even get to leave the king’s courtyard when the LORD sent him back.

Isaiah reported to Hezekiah that the LORD heard his petition and has added fifteen years to his days. The king asked for proof and the proof was granted; the shadow moved backward ten degrees.

The chapter ended a bit bitterly. Merodach Baladan, the King of Babylon, sent his son and messengers with gifts for Hezekiah. They heard he was ill and recovered.

The king of Judah was happy about this and showed them all things and people within his kingdom. Isaiah was sent to Hezekiah again, this time condemning the king for his behavior.

He also added that everything and one he showed to Babylon would be carried off into captivity in the future. Hezekiah was happy there would be peace and truth during his day. This is the summary of 2 Kings chapter 20, glory to Honor.
