Transgressions and Iniquity Part 3

The other set of laws are the Ten Commandments, statutes, judgments, and ordinances the God of Israel left for man to keep. People like to include laws that generally go with nature as well such as the law of gravity, law of supply, law of attraction, etc.

These laws can be seen played out in many stories in the Bible, nevertheless, God gave His laws, commandments, statutes, judgments, and ordinances to the children of Israel to keep and distribute to the rest of the world.

These laws give us life and they are forever. Romans chapter 7 states this best for us; “Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.” God’s law is holy, His commandment is holy, they are just and good. Holy things aren’t removable.

Transgressions and Iniquity Part 3: Laws and Commandments

Beginning with Abraham, whom God made the covenant with to bring the Blessed Seed through, Abraham kept God’s charge. It is written in Genesis chapter 26 that Abraham obeyed God’s voice and kept God’s commandments, statutes, and laws (Abraham was counted as a friend to God).

 Transgressions and Iniquity Part 3

Jesus tells us we are His friends if we do whatever He commands us (John 15 v14). The good kings of Israel were counted good for keeping God’s commandments and teaching the nation to do so also as King David did.

When Jesus ministered on the earth, Jesus taught the commandments, making the commandments even a bit more expansive because Jesus told how thinking and lusting after a woman is adultery and not just the mere physical act of adultery (Matthew 5 v27-28).

This is because what we think about we do, and become that what we think of. Jesus the Christ did not come to remove the law and commandments, He came to fulfill them; therefore we are still in need of keeping God’s laws statutes, judgments  and ordinances.

Keep the Commandments

To avoid keeping the commandments for any reason is suicide of the second death. The reason why is noted in the beginning of this series on Transgressions and Iniquity, that sin is the breaking of the law, and death follows sin.

They are a package deal. When one is purchased, the other comes free! “That’s $109 for the nightly stay at the Baymont Hotel where you spent the evening committing adultery with a married women. And here is your death free!”

What can I do to inherit eternal life?

This was the question the man asked Jesus. Jesus, being in the man family at the time told the man first that only God is good. However, in answering the man’s question, Jesus simply told him (and us) to keep the commandments.

Mark Chapter 10

19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

At the end of the day, God’s commandments are really for those who are unrighteous. The righteous keep these commandments, even sometimes unknowingly, because they are decent human beings already. They honor their parents even if their parents were or are bad parents.

The righteous don’t meddle in other people relationships on any levels specifically on an intimate level. They are not robbing and killing, and they are not lying on people for their selfish gain. They aren’t coveting other people’s blessings, and they are helpful to the poor and less fortunate.

Many people do this without even reading the Bible because they have a good moral cloth on them. The unrighteous are the ones who are in need of the laws of God. The laws will help them to repent and deliver themselves from sin.
