1st Kings Chapter 10 Summary
Chapter 10 of 1st Kings begins with a visit from a queen from the land of Sheba. She’d heard about the fame of Solomon, especially concerning his knowledge of the name of the Owner of the earth, so she came to prove if he was really the real deal.
She came with many gifts and talked with Solomon about everything that came to her mind, and Solomon answered everything. When she saw his wisdom and how his country was in such order, prestige, and prosperity, she was really overwhelmed.
She confessed that the report wasn’t fully true that she’d been hearing back home in the land of Sheba. The Queen had only heard half of all she’s witnessed herself, she confessed, all the king’s men were happy, and God has blessed the people to have such a wise and wonderful king.
She also blessed God who must have taken much delight in Solomon to set him over His people Israel whom the Lord loves. The queen gave Solomon 120 talents of gold, many spices, and precious stones.
She held the record for giving the highest amount of spices to Israel. In this chapter, it says Solomon gave the queen all her desire, whatever she asked; and he gave her his royal bounty.
Her desires were centered around knowledge of the Lord, I don’t think this was a romantic thing, at least the Scriptures don’t suggest it. The chapter winds down with the weight of all the gold Solomon had taken in that year, it was six hundred sixty-six talents of gold.
That’s a lot of gold.
He had other trade going on in spices with the kings of Arabia. Solomon had it going on. The chapter ends by saying king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and wisdom.
All the earth sought after King Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God gave him, and he became vastly wealthy because of his gift! The gift of wisdom from the Creator. This is 1st Kings chapter 10 summary.
