The Remnant of Jacob Will Return to The Mighty God: Isaiah 10 Reframe Part 2, BibleStudyMinistry.com. On that day, the remnant of the house of Israel and those who escape who are of the house of Jacob will no longer cleave to their oppressors who struck them.
They will wholly stay and rely on the LORD ALMIGHTY; they will stay with the HOLY One of Israel in truth. The remnant of Jacob, yes, even the remnant of Jacob will stay with the Mighty God of Heaven and Earth.
Even though your people, O Israel, are like the sand of the sea, only a remnant will return. Destruction has been decreed, overflowing with righteousness because the LORD ALMIGHTY of Hosts will carry out the destruction decreed on the whole land.
Midian and the Rock of Oreb
Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD ALMIGHTY of Hosts says, “O My people who dwell in Zion, do not fear the Assyrian, who strikes you with a rod and lifts his staff against you as the Egyptians did.
Don’t worry, in just a very little while My wrath will be spent and My anger will turn to their destruction.” The LORD of Hosts will brandish a whip against them, like when He struck Midian at the rock of Oreb; He will raise His staff over the sea, as He did in Egypt.
On that day, the burden will be lifted from your shoulders, and the yoke from your neck, O house of Israel. The yoke will be broken because of the fatness of your anointing. Assyria has entered Aiath and passed through Migron, storing supplies at Michmash.
Cutting Off the Branches with Terrifying Power
They have crossed at the ford; “We will spend the night at Geba,” they said. Ramah is trembling; Gibeah of Saul fled. Lift up your voice and cry aloud O daughter of Gallim! Listen, O Laishah!
O wretched Anathoth, give ear! Madmenah fled; the people of Gebim took refuge. Yet today they will halt at Nob, shaking a fist at the mount of the Daughter of Zion, at the hill of Jerusalem.
Behold, the LORD ALMIGHTY of Hosts will cut off the branches with terrifying power. The tall trees will be cut down, the lofty ones will tumble to the ground, humbled. He will clear the forest thickets with an ax, and Lebanon will fall before the Mighty One of Israel.
Chapter Remarks
Continuing from part one of Isaiah chapter 10, this prophecy is a dual prophecy. It is for Assyria of that day, which would be roughly 721 BCE. The Assyrians captured the Ten Tribes’ capital at Samaria and carried them away into captivity.
The details of this capture are written in 2 Kings 17. Although Assyria dissolved into Babylon because of their aggressive disobedience against the LORD ALMIGHTY (as they also tried to capture Jerusalem), the prophecy still uses the name Assyria.
It is represented as captivity, much as Egypt is represented as bondage. Therefore, the prophecy also took place against the house of Jacob here in the Americas with the arrival of Christopher Columbus.
Ten Tribes Known as Indians
The Ten Tribes made their way to the Americas, but that is another story for another time. It states briefly that the Italians, French, Spanish, and Portuguese made their way to the Americas in Christopher Columbus.
Once in the Americas, they annihilated the Ten Tribes known at that time as Indians (or Natives). We should be able to understand why the house of Israel, those who escape, will no longer cleave to those who struck them; they will receive their lands back.
This points to the time of the end (our days now in the present). We are strictly sticking with the Holy One of Israel. The poor thing about it is that it will only be a remnant because of the destruction that is decreed to happen from the ALMIGHTY.
Like the Slaughter of the Midianites
He has to get, not only His people’s attention but the whole world’s attention. This includes the Assyrian, which represents the children of Israel’s oppressor. Stay with us here, you better hear what we’re saying!
At this time, those who know their LORD ALMIGHTY should not fear, because the LORD of Hosts will do the Assyrian as He did Midian at the rock of Oreb. The story of the rock of Oreb and the slaughter of the Midianites can be read in Judges chapter 7.
The chapter details the Assyrians invading the land of Israel, but behold, the LORD ALMIGHTY will cut off the branches with terror or terrifying power. As was done against Israel and Judah, this is what we will witness in our generation today against Assyria.
Chop Them Down!!
Assyria is represented as the oppressing powers today. All the unrighteous trees are getting hewn down; the ax of the LORD ALMIGHTY is chopping them down. The lofty and arrogant are going down; praise ye the LORD ALMIGHTY.
