Gathered Together Against the Lord

In Psalm chapter 2, it opens with a question, “Why do the nations rage, and people imagine a vain thing?” Yeah, why do they? Well first, what are the raging about, and what is the vain imagination? There are plenty of things to imagine in this world.

We as God’s creation are empowered to do many great things, especially those we put our minds to collectively, and that are righteously founded.

It is part of our study topic features, where we study a topic in the Bible one scripture at a time. Let’s get back to today’s study topic!

The world has taken itself to a level where the Creator had to ask why are the heathen in rage and the people imagine a vain thing? The Lord has already set everything in order that must be, including the Lord’s POWER over the nations.

However, the nations have imagined a vain thing. The kings of the earth have set themselves against the Lord. The rulers of the earth have taken counsel together, they have gathered together against the Lord, and against His Anointed.

They’ve voted to break their bands or bonds asunder, and remove their cords from us. This is direct rebellion, acts of treason, and all who side with this rage, this madness, will receive a rebellers reward.

The Lord seated in the heavens is and will laugh, and will put all who declare independence in derision because they have gathered together against the Lord and His Christ, or stated any clearer, against the Father and His Son.

Peter confirms this in the writings in the book of Acts. In Acts chapter 4, Peter was let go from the chief priests who were warning him not to teach in the name of Jesus any longer. Peter returned to his people and told them all that took place with him before the chief priest, pharisees, and scribes.

When the disciples heard, they all prayed with one accord, and they quoted Psalm chapter 2, the very scriptures. “The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.”

These guys were scripture hawkers. God anointed the Holy Child Jesus, and Herod, Pilate, the Gentiles, and the people of Israel all gathered together to oppose the Anointed.

Yet, it is a vain thing, and will end in laughter by the Lord and His Anointed, because to His Anointed has been committed power over the nations.
