Are You Clothed with Strange Apparel

In Zephaniah chapter 1, this strange apparel phrase came up and I immediately began to look at what I was wearing physically. I asked myself as I ask you, are you clothed with strange apparel? Then I realized, the Most-High God is not concerned about my physical dress or attire, but what my spiritual dress and attire looks like.

Are You Clothed with Strange Apparel

See Zephaniah 1

8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord’s sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.

The Most-High will punish all such as are clothed with strange apparel. What exactly does this mean? Never fear when scriptures are here to tell a story.

Matthew 22:

11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:

12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

In this parable about the wedding, the King came and saw a man without a wedding garment and asked the man, where is your wedding apparel. The man was clothed with strange apparel. The man was also speechless because I’m sure it was on the invitation list to dress a certain way.

Nevertheless, the man was brutally thrown out! This garment is important. Let’s see what Job had to say about it.

Job 29:14

14 I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.

Job had the right apparel, righteousness clothed Job, and judgment, good judgment was his robe and crown.

Are You Clothed with Strange Apparel

Isaiah, would you like to lay in on this?

Isaiah 61:10

10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

Isaiah greatly rejoiced because God has clothed him with the garments of salvation, righteousness, ornaments, and jewels. These servants of God are not clothed with strange apparel, but with the apparel from the Most-High!

See what Revelation says…

Revelation 3:18

18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

White raiment represents righteousness.

Romans 13:14

14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Isn’t this great. At the end of the day, the apparel we are putting on is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is righteousness, He is judgment, He is Beauty. Put off strange apparel and put on garments for the wedding and the banquet.

Happy Sabbath!
