Stand in the Gate of the Lord’s House and Proclaim – Jeremiah 7 Reframe: This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Sovereign LORD of Israel. “Stand in the Gate of the LORD’s house and proclaim this word.

Listen to the words of this covenant and tell them to the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem.” This is what the LORD of Hosts says, the Ruler of Israel, “Amend your ways and your deeds, and I will allow you to live in this place.

Do not trust in deceptive words, chanting, “This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD are these.”

Trusting in Lying Words

If you truly amend your ways and deeds, if you act justly towards one another, if you no longer oppress the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow; you no longer shed innocent blood in this place or follow other gods to your own hurt, then I will allow you to live in this place, in the land I gave to your fathers forever.

Too bad you trust in lying words that have no profit in them. Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, and perjury, all while burning incense to Baal? Huh, will you follow other gods that you have not known, and then come and stand before Me in this house called by My name?

Will you do all of this? Then say, “We are saved, so we can continue with all these abominations. Has this house, which bears My name, become a den of robbers in your sight? Yes, I too have seen it,” declares the Sovereign LORD.

The House that Bears My Name

“But go to the place in Shiloh where I first made a dwelling for My name and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of My people Israel.

And now because you’ve done all these things,” says the LORD ALMIGHTY, “And because I have spoken to you time and time again but you would not listen; I called out to you but you would not answer, okay; now what I did to Shiloh I will now do to the house that bears My name, the house in which you trust.

The place that I gave to you and your fathers, watch what I do. I will cast you out of My presence, just like I cast out all your brothers, all the descendants of Ephraim. As for you, do not pray for these people!

Open Up Your Eyes

Do not offer a plea or petition on their behalf, and do not beg Me, because I will not listen to you. You don’t see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? You don’t see it,” says the LORD.

Open your eyes and stand in the gate of the LORD’s house and proclaim their abominations.

Chapter Remarks

Jeremiah the prophet was commanded to stand in the gate of the Lord’s house and proclaim what the LORD commanded of him. As the opening theme of his word, he has come down hard on Judah and Jerusalem.

Jeremiah’s whole duty is to preach to Judah to amend their ways. If they do, the LORD ALMIGHTY would allow them to stay in the land. What did they have to amend? Same things we in America and around the world have to amend or change.

We have to repent and change from the plan of Lucifer; Lucifer, Satan, has the world trusting in lying words. It is a lie you can go to church, church, church, and be unrighteous, yet still, be accepted by the ALMIGHTY.

The Sins of the People are Plenty

What is unrighteousness? The things highlighted in this chapter the house of Judah were doing. They were oppressive to foreigners or strangers. The children of Israel cared less about the fatherless, widow, poor, and needy.

They shed innocent blood, and they walked after the ordinances of other gods, to their own destruction. They stole, murdered, fornicated, committed adultery, swore falsely against another, and burned incense to other gods, like the abominable Baal.

This is a clear breach of the covenant, the Ten Commandments given by Moses in the wilderness. The MOST-HIGH got rid of the temple and people in Shiloh back in the day; He warns He would have no problem doing the same again.

Love Your Neighbor as Yourself

Now for us today, take a look at what is going on in the world that we would call unjust, unrighteous, and atrocities. Do you see what is going on in the nations around the world? You don’t see it?

Open your eyes and cry out for justice and righteousness. Love your neighbor as you would love yourself; repent for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
