In the world we live in today, in the areas I grew up in especially, a phrase became popular that went something like this: “Show some love,” or more personally, “show me some love!”

We have studied this topic or subject before from Jesus in Matthew chapter 15 and also by the prophet Isaiah. This is how people treat the Creator, Jesus Christ, with feign love. It’s like the song Tainted Love…
From Ezekiel’s standpoint, it gets deeper and with a little bit of humor if you grew up hearing or still hear that phrase, “show me some love.”
If you’ve ever had someone who treated you so well with words that you could do no wrong to them, but they treat you so horrible in deed, then you may have an idea of the God of Israel’s relationship with His first born, the children of Israel.
They Shew Much Love
I had a friend once, she would tell me how much she adored me and cared for me and loved the work I was doing in the name of the Lord! But anytime I’m drop her a call or text, she’d never answer and never return the call.
It could be an emergency or me just saying hey, but she’d never respond until she saw me in public. Once we ran into each other there, she’d go into a rendition of telling me how much she just adored me.
I think of her and people the like, when I read Ezekiel chapter 33 and verse 31. Let’s look at it…
31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.
Jesus is saying people come to Him for their needs, they sit before Him (in this particular passage, they sit before Him through Ezekiel) like a great audience. They even hear His Words directly from the Bible … nevertheless, they WILL NOT do them.
Why?
It is because with their mouth they shew much love! They show much love with their mouth.
“I LOVE THE LORD”
“Oh My Lord Jesus!”
Isn’t Jesus Awesome?
Turn to your neighbor and say Jesus is Awesome!
These phrases are great to use if you praise with your mouth, and also offer praises of works and deeds. Jesus says, “if you love me keep my commandments!” Jesus also says if you love Him, take care of your fellow brother!
32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.
At times, preachers or pastors today who teach the Bible and truth of the Word, gather a crowd who only love to hear their voice, their jokes, their thoughts, but for the Words of the Most High, they won’t do them.
Becareful not to fall into the audience of people who love a good blogpost, who love a good show, who love a good sermon, but go back home and fall back into the old man or woman habits of the world.
Let it be far from you, let it be far from me. Blessings upon you this Sabbath and may peace love and joy be with you until the next time.
Still show much love in works and not only with the mouth!
… like if this is a good post, share it with someone that would appreciate it as well. Don’t just say to yourself, that was a good post! 🙂
