Daily Wisdom Bible Study – Man’s Goings are of the Lord
17 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
It may seem sweet and great to get something deceitfully, but the end, especially when one is caught is filled with gravel. I remember in the neighborhood we grew up, some kids used to go to the ‘corner store’ and steal. We would know they were successful because they would ride their bikes down the middle of the street, holding up the bottle of juice or candy up in the air like a trophy. We would all laugh. Nevertheless, where do you think kids from age 6 through 10 end up that steal? They move onto bigger laws to break, then they end up in jail, or dead. Sweet start, gravel finish!
18 Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.
This is why people have attorneys’, financial advisors, life coaches, friends, because we all need counsel to really be established. Get good advice before you take a deep action!
Man’s goings are of the Lord – Do You Understand Your Way?
19 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.
The quickest way to get someone to talk is to flatter them. This is why you must be careful and not meddle with flattering lips, because these people are talebearers often times and reveal secrets. If they got you to talk, they got some secrets from you.
20 Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.
We would think that this verse is just for the little kids; nope! Everyone that has a mother and father; so teenager, twenty year olds, thirty-somethings, forties and fifties, and even the sixty year old that believes he does not have to listen to his mother and father needs to remember to honor your mother and father. If you curse them, the light in which to walk in the paths of God will be put out, and you will eventually find yourself in obscure darkness.
24 Man’s goings are of the Lord; how can a man then understand his own way?
We can make goals and plans for our life, but we have to understand that going about our life is from the Lord. If God is putting together our way, and the incredible mind God has, how can we understand our way? This is why one of the most quoted phrases by man is, “I never thought in a million years I’d be doing…”

I never thought I’d be writing subjects and teaching on the Bible. Never thought I’d be doing this (I’m serious). At times I still wonder why, but I love it, therefore I can’t understand my own way!
25 It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry.
It is a bad thing to eat up a matter, whether it is food, doctrine, of life issue, and afterwards promise to look into it. That is like eating an unclean food, then reading the ingredients, it is like fellowshipping with a church, then looking into their tenets or doctrine. It is a snare to do this.
27 The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
Your thoughts are a candle for the Lord to search all the inward jumbo going on in your mind. God knows what we’re thinking even if we do not open our mouths, as long as you are conscious of the thoughts in your head, the candle of the Lord is lit, looking at what we are doing!
28 Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy.
If you have mercy and truth, that will uphold you in your daily life because that is what the captain of our salvation has, mercy and truth. This is why Jesus throne will be upholden forever. Have mercy towards each other and walk in truth (avoid being hypocritical).

29 The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head.
The greatness of young men is their strength, but the beauty is older men lies in their grey head. The young show the strength God gives to man, the elder shows the years of safety, knowledge, and wisdom God gives. Beauty and glory, praise ye the LORD.
