Leviticus Chapter 1 Summary

Into Leviticus we go, and in Leviticus 1, God called Moses to implement a new order.

God called Moses to tell him to tell the children of Israel what types of offering to God they should bring to the Lord.

The most important detail is that it needs to be a male without blemish if it is a burnt sacrifice. Adding to that, anyone offering should do so voluntarily.

Burnt offerings are handled by Aaron and his sons and they are to do the rituals that go along with animal sacrificing. The burnt offering should be of cattle, but if they bring birds, it should be of turtledoves or young pigeons.

The order of the offering and sacrifices, which Aaron and his sons handle is what this chapter is about and the coming chapters also. Leviticus is the Levitical order for the children of Israel.

They are officially leaving the Melchizedek order and going into the Levitical order.
