Judges Chapter 14 Summary Part 1

Judges chapter 14 summary begins with a grown Samson seeing a beautiful woman of the daughters of Philistines and asking his parents to get her for him to wife.

Parents getting their sons wives was a tradition in the ole days and a Hebrew custom.

His parents attempt to get him to marry within the children of Israel. But this Philistines girl had his heart, so there was nothing his parents could do.

This was done by God to have occasion against the Philistines. Samson goes to hang out with the girl and kills a lion on his way with his bare hands.

When leaving he sees a swarm of being producing honey in the lion’s carcase. He scoops the honey and brings it to his parents (but they didn’t know). He and his dad (Manoah) go down to meet the girl and her parents, and Samson makes a feast.

30 guys came down to meet Samson and he tells them to solve a riddle, if they do in seven days before the feast, he’d give them 30 pieces of clothings.

The riddle was, “out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness.”

No one could get it, three days went by, but on the seventh day they talked to Samson’s wife to entice her husband to get them the answer. Will they get the riddle? Check back with us tomorrow in Judges chapter 14 summary part 2 and find out!
