Jacob’s Great Escape
In Genesis 31, things take a horrible turn in the relationship between Laban and Jacob. Laban’s sons heard of the financial hustle job Jacob performed against their dad and reported it to Laban.
The next thing Jacob noticed was that Laban’s countenance wasn’t pleasant to him anymore . Further, God commanded Jacob to return to the land of Canaan.
Jacob leaves with a bit of panic of what Laban would do to him and takes off without any formal goodbyes, going back to Canaan to see his father Isaac.
Genesis Chapter 31 Summary
Laban is told Jacob and his daughters took off in the middle of the night and hustles after him, perhaps to do a bit of harm; nevertheless God visited him in a dream and ordered him to speak neither good or bad to Jacob.
He catches Jacob and rebukes him for leaving without his blessings, and searches for the gods (images) Rachel left with.
They get in a bit of an argument over wages the last twenty years before making a covenant with each other to do no harm to one another, as God being witness.
Let it please the Father to add blessings to the reading and doing of His Holy Word through His Son Jesus Christ. So Be It!
