Genesis 10 details the generations after the flood.
The generations of Noa’s sons are given in this chapter beginning with the sons of Japheth. The world is repopulated by the sons of Noa, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. There is a special note to take heed and that is that sons of Japheth are referred to as Gentiles.
Primarily in the New Testament writings, the use of the term Gentiles is frequented, and analogizing it with the sons of Japheth helps with understanding and later scriptural study.
Shem and Ham are outlined after Japheth. The family that took immediate control of the world were the sons of Ham.
The chapter ends by letting us know these are the nations divided in the earth after the flood.
