Fleeing Persecution Till the Times of the Gentiles Be Fulfilled: Welcome back to the M24 and the 6th Seal Series. In the previous post, we ended by asking the question, how long will they (the children of Israel) be in great distress or great tribulation? We will get an answer very shortly.
Luke 21:24 KJV
[24] And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
If we consider all the mass killing, genocide, slavery, and captivity into all nations within the Roman kingdom, the Jews historically went through; in hindsight, it understandable why the warning from CHRIST was so urgent.
In addition, if we consider the modern-day events of the young “black” men like Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, and older George Floyd, we can see a type of sword that follows them in the lands of their captivity? These types of atrocities will continue until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
What Does “This People?”
The scripture is essentially saying, there will be two days or two millennia of abasement and pure wrath, afflictions, and hell against “this people.” Two-thirds will receive the harsher end of the stick. The remaining third will see some levels of peace, calm, and a little sanctuary in their captivity as stated by the prophet.
This came from the mouth of CHRIST according to both Luke and Matthew (it is also in Mark’s writings). John, in the book of Revelation, gave us the descriptive form of fleeing from Jerusalem after the abomination of desolation of those days when the Roman armies compassed Jerusalem.
This is the parabolic view where the use of similitudes (parables) is expressed to support the scriptures in Matthew 24:16-21.
Revelation 12:1-6 KJV
[1] And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: [2] And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.
[3] And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. [4] And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
[5] And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. [6] And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
Fled into the Wilderness
This is a parable or similitude; the woman is the nation of Israel* during the days when CHRIST was born in the flesh; the red dragon was the devil in the form of the Romans who sought to kill the child as soon as HE was born. They would use Herod the Idumean.
The woman fled to the wilderness fleeing Roman persecution, into the land of Ham, which is today known as Africa. In the parable of Revelation 12:1-6, Africa is considered the wilderness. This is where the kingdom of Judah fled, away from the Romans, and was fed in the wilderness by GOD for 1,260 days (of years). We’ll continue from here…
