Daily Wisdom Bible Study – A Faithful Man Shall Abound with Blessings
16 The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.
A prince that wants understanding doesn’t have it yet, and in Job 28 v28, it says to depart from evil is understanding. This is why such a prince is a great oppressor, because he does not have understanding yet. However, once someone has no want of covetousness, they will prolong their rule, and their days. This person wants good for everyone and is content with what God has given them.
A Faithful Man Shall Abound with Blessings … How Faithful Are You?
17 A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.
Violence begets violence; stay from harming others, we are all children of the Most High God.
18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.
We have to walk upright in order to receive salvation. Being uncooperative and stubborn will lead to our fall and it will happen suddenly as in a day!
19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.
We have to work in our vineyard, we have to put in the labor in order to have plenty of bread. Even motivational speakers will tell you this, that as you walk with vain people, that have nothing (because they are worthless), you will also attract worthless things in your life. You will have poverty to your full. We are the sum of the people we surround ourselves with.
A Faithful Man Shall Abound with Blessings
20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
If one wants to increase their level of income or material wealth in this life, it is no sin to do this, especially if done in a righteous manner. To do this, one must be faithful in their craft or labor. Hasting for riches usually leaves a bad trail of people you’ve hurt, and things done incorrectly!
21 To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.
It is not good to show favor, this is respect of persons, it is not good because whomever can buy you will own you. Also, you’ll transgress for a piece of bread because you have so much favoritism towards such person. Avoid this, do what is right in all situations (even if you must let yourself down). Remember the story of Eli the priest and his wicked sons he refused to correct!
22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.
Get rich quick thinking people have an evil eye on them because getting rich quick is not a normal process in nature. We’d have a percentage of people who would try a product that claimed, “get a baby quick,” because some people will try anything. However, it is totally abnormal to have a baby shorter than the typical nine to ten month gestation period. The same rules apply to wealth and riches, respect the process and if it happens faster for you or slower, respect the process.
