Welcome to BibleStudyMinistry.com, your online Bible Study supplement source. Today, we look at Ezekiel 16, the story of Jerusalema’s sinful comparison given by their Great Creator. This study is based on verses 44 through 52. Let’s dive in.
“Look, everyone who uses proverbs will say this proverb against you, O Jerusalema. They will say, ‘Like mother, like daughter.’ You are your mother’s daughter, who detested her husband and her children. You are the sister of your sisters, who also detested their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.
Your elder sister is Samaria and her daughters, that dwell to your left. And your younger sister, who dwells to your right, is Sodom and her daughters. Yet you have not walked in their ways or done their abominations. Instead, you have been even more corrupt than they in all your ways.
Ezekiel 16 Jerusalema’s Sinfulness Comparison
As I live,” says the Almighty Creator, “Sodom, your sister, and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters have done. Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness were in her and her daughters. They also did not strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
They were haughty and committed abominations before Me. Therefore, I took them away as I saw fit. Samaria has not committed even half of your sins, but you have multiplied your abominations more than they. You have justified your sisters in all your abominations that you have done. So you, who have judged your sisters, bear your own shame for your sins, which are more abominable than theirs. They are more righteous than you. Yes, be confounded and bear your shame, for you have justified your sisters.”
