Exodus Chapter 17 Summary
In chapter 17, the congregation (of Israel) continued to journey from wilderness to wilderness, and as they moved people began to complain to Moses about water.
Murmuring upon murmuring continued to pour in, again asking for water. Again, God gave Moses the instructions to provide water for the people.
They called the location Massah and Meribah because they tempted the Lord. They actually were considering and wondering if the Lord their God was with them or not.
Amalek Attacks Israel
While out in one wilderness, the people of Amalek came out to fight with the children of Israel. Moses ordered Joshua to select men to go fight for the children of Israel. Joshua discomfited Amalek and Israel prevailed against them.
It was written in a book for a memorial because Amalek was to be put out of remembrance after the battle with Israel. Moses built an altar and named it Jehovah-nissi because God swore to have war with Amalek from generation to generation.
Let it please the Father to add blessings to the reading and doing of His Holy Word through His Son Jesus Christ. So Be It!
