Daily Wisdom Bible Study – Wine Strange Women and Perverse Things

29 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?

30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.

A drunk, negative, foolish, lack of knowledge, uncorrectable person has all these things. They spend all their time drinking and are unable to pay attention.

31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.

32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.

It is not good to keep oneself full of alcohol, eventually it will bite like a serpent, and sting like an adder. There is a movie titled Flight (with Denzel Washington). He couldn’t break from the alcohol and it destroyed him; we’ve seen this happen to thousands of people. They get bit and eaten up like a serpent from their hard drinks.

Wine Strange Women and Perverse Things – Recipe for Disaster!

33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.

With a couple of drinks in your system, you activate a “cruise control” of a spirit. This is why they call drinks “wines and spirits,” because once you’ve activated cruise control, the deep inner being that you really are or want to be takes over.

Nine times out of ten, this being will be an evil spirit and it will behold strange women, and will utter perverse unruly things. People like to say they weren’t themselves the day after they had too much to drink and perhaps offended a few dozen or more people.

The reality is that they were themselves. The sober self is being guided by the spirit of God and the mind of Christ.

This one verse has two meanings.  Again, when we are referring to strange women, we are talking about “woman.” The woman, metaphorically and biblically/prophetically speaking refers to the church ; therefore if you are spiritually drunk, you will behold strange women (a strange church organization and with strange doctrines), posing as the church of Jesus.

You will go in there and utter perverse things, such as “we don’t have to keep God’s commandments.” Therefore friends, stay sober so your eyes do not behold strange women!

35 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

Wine Strange Women and Perverse Things

When I attended the university, I would see hundreds of students get terribly wasted (drunk) on a weekly basis! Some would fight, some would go home with strangers, and some would feel so sick, they would be promising themselves not to ever drink again.

However, they would be right back at it again drinking the following week (even day sometimes). It reminded me of this verse, ‘they have stricken me, I was not sick, they have beaten me, I felt it not, when I awake, I will do it again still.’

It must feel fun to get drunk, get beaten and barely feel the pain (until afterwards), and want to do the same thing all over again! It is not wise! Be mindful with wine, strange women, they lead to uttering perverse things!
